Helotes sits about 16 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, in the valley where Helotes Creek comes down out of the Hill Country. It has been an incorporated city since 1981 and has a population of roughly 9,000, so most of what we are called out to here is residential rather than commercial.

Two things about Helotes change what tends to go wrong with a garage door. The first is the lots. This is the edge of the Hill Country, so plots are larger, driveways are longer, and detached or side-entry garages are far more common than they are inside Loop 410. The second is the spread of build years. Helotes takes in properties that predate incorporation alongside newer construction out along Highway 16, so unlike a single-era subdivision there is no one typical door here. We see original one-piece tilt-up doors that are good candidates for conversion to a sectional door, and modern sectional doors that need nothing more than spring or roller work.
