Can one panel be replaced, or do I need a whole new door?

In most cases a single section can be swapped, and it is usually the better option. Sectional doors are built from four or five separate panels precisely so that damage to one does not condemn the rest. Replacing a whole door because a car reversed into the bottom section is rarely necessary.

Will a replacement panel match the rest of my door?

If the model is still in production, closely. Be aware of two things, though. Colour fades over years of Texas sun, so a brand-new panel can look slightly fresher than its neighbours for a while. And if the door is old enough that the model has been discontinued, an exact match may not exist — in that case we will tell you honestly rather than fitting something that looks wrong.

When is replacing the whole door the better call?

When several panels are damaged, when the model is obsolete and no matching section can be sourced, or when the damage runs into the hinges and reinforcement rather than just the skin. Rust that has gone through the bottom section is another one — patching it rarely lasts.

The door still works. Does a dented panel actually matter?

It can. A dent that has distorted the section changes how the door sits in its tracks, which makes rollers bind and puts uneven load on the cables and springs. Damage along the bottom section also breaks the weather seal, which lets water and dust into the garage.

How long does a panel replacement take?

The work itself is usually a single visit. The variable is sourcing the section — a current model from a common manufacturer is quick, while an older or discontinued door can take longer to track down. We will tell you which situation you are in once we have identified the door.

Do you replace panels on any brand of door?

We work with the major manufacturers, and the first step is always identifying the door from the label on the inside of a section. Send us a photo of that label and the damage and we can usually tell you what is possible before anyone comes out.
